OLYMPUS is a Japanese company making cameras and other optical products. It was founded on October 12,1919 under the name K.K. Takachiho Seisakusho (Takachiho Work Co., Ltd) by Yamashita Takeshi. OLYMPUS has been renowned to this day for its research on medical equipment.
Why they use OLYMPUS for the name because as everyone know OLYMPUS is the name of mountain where is the place of gods in Greek. Also the philosophy of this brand is “Working with Society to Develop a Better Future”
As same as the legend of Japan has a mountain knows as Takachiho as well. On the top of mountain is the place of gods and goddess. This company choose this name because reasons of global thinking and actually, OLYMPUS and Takachiho is the name of the place of gods and goddess as same as. Importantly, Takachiho is the name of ancestor of founder. I think this company contemplates for give humor lively. As same as Takachiho mountain gives us brighter.
